On Tuesday, 11 August 2020, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women, Senator the Hon Marise Payne opened the Women’s Job Creation Forum to identify new and innovative pathways to increase women’s workforce participation. The invitational event, hosted by the Office for Women, delivered on a 2018 Women’s Economic Security Statement (WESS) commitment to bring together leaders to explore pathways to strengthen women’s employment, pay, participation and flexibility.
The online forum brought together invited experts from across Australia to share their experiences and ideas, and to shine a light on practical initiatives to get women into work, particularly during the COVID-19 crisis.
The Forum was opened by the Minister for Women and facilitated by Helen McCabe from Future Women. Participants included senior representatives from business, both big and small; key employer networks; innovative employment, career and recruitment service providers; and relevant not-for-profit organisations.
